The Northern Arizona Homebirth Meetup
What is it?
The Northern AZ Homebirth meetup is a group that was created to support and educate the families in our area about birthing at home. It is not only a social outlet for families that have experienced homebirth, but more importantly a place where expectant mamas and partners can come to ask questions when choosing and planning a homebirth.
Finding other women and families that support birthing at home is crucial when planning a homebirth! Let's see how big of a support system we can create for parents choosing homebirth here in the Verde Valley!
Topics to be covered in the next few months include:
-Waterbirth
-Homeopathy and Herbs in Pregnancy and Birth
-Transport
-Natural Choices in Pregnancy and Birth
-Breastfeeding and Postpartum
-Having Siblings at the Birth
How often does the group meet?
The group meets once a month on the FIRST SUNDAY of the month at 2 pm. Partners and kids are welcome. Meetings are currently being held at Maryn's home in Cornville.
When is the next meeting?
The next meeting is Sunday, March 1st at 2 pm. The topic will be "Why Choose Homebirth?".

Happy Valentine's Day!
Happy Valentine's Day to all and thanks to everyone that came out to A Scoop Above for our ice cream Valentine Celebration! The kids really seemed to enjoy getting together and had lots of fun. And thanks to the staff at A Scoop Above who handled our rather large group with ease and perfection! The ice cream was great and I can certainly recommend the hot chocolate too! It's a great place to have a "cheap" date with you kids where you can relax while they have some fun! Great to see everyone! We'll do it again soon!

Celebrate Valentine's Day with the Kids
Let's celebrate Valentine's Day with the kids at A Scoop Above in Cottonwood. It is located on Main Street in the same building as The Gingerbread House and opposite the Dairy Queen. A Scoop Above serves home-made Gelatto - a creamy ice cream treat - in assorted flavors. Scoops are only $1 each and children under 5 get one free scoop with any purchase. They have a playroom with assorted books and toys and an electric choo-choo that runs along the ceiling! It's a great place to play and enjoy a treat!
If we want to have the playroom all to ourselves, they can reserve the room for us with a $25 spending minimum (total) and a limit of 17 people, including both adults and kids. I need a head count and a commitment so that we know we will meet the $25 minimum (figure around just $3-5 per person with the kids eating free) before I make a reservation. Otherwise we can just meet informally but the playroom will be open to anyone else who comes in.
We will plan to meet on Wednesday, February 11 at 2pm. Please RSVP by email to my BabyWearinMom address at Yahoo! or by phone with the number of adults (technically, anyone 5 years old and older that you will be paying for!) and the number of children under 5 by Monday, 2/9. Call me with questions at 567-4600.

Camp Verde Pecan, Wine & Antique Festival
Lots of fun in Camp Verde for Valentine's weekend - pies and other goodies made from locally grown pecans will be available as well as other crafts and entertainment! Come on out and have some fun!
